Support Black and Indigenous Writers
In 2020, we received a mini-grant from #BlackinScicomm to support our work telling Black and Indigenous science stories through our brack-ish channel. After 17 stories in four languages and counting, the dedicated funds are almost being used up, and that's where we need your help.
Our brack-ish series has taken us from the Mount Everest Base Camp to St. Kitts and Nevis; from Nigeria to Nicaragua; from Puerto Rico to Sapelo Island, Georgia. We are much committed to ensuring our writers covering Black and Indigenous get properly recognized for their hard work and the personal emotional trauma some may go through while reporting on sensitive topics. In fact, brack-ish stories have an honorarium that's 25% larger than our regular stories.
Raising 7,500 USD by the year's end would help us double our honorarium for writers who contribute to our Black and Indigenous coverage, and we're already raised over halfway to that mark. Can we count on you to support our brack-ish series with a tax-deductible contribution and provide a platform for stories and voices that have never been heard?
