Nunhead Knocks

During the COVID 19 Crisis, Nunhead Knocks came together as an all-volunteer initiative to connect people in Nunhead, Peckham, and surrounding areas to each other and offer opportunities to support the community. This included connecting people requiring support to neighbours for assistance, providing community information, identifying and organising volunteering opportunities, working with local businesses to provide community services, and raising awareness of opportunities for action. We are built on the principle that at any time, any community member could need support or have something to contribute.  

The main COVID-19 response wound down as the country re-opened, but it became clear in September 2022 that another crisis was on us as people are increasingly having to choose between heating their homes and feeding their families. We decided to re-mobilise on a limited basis to provide a platform for individuals to support other individuals directly with heating and food costs (this Open Collective platform), to spread the word in the local community that resources are available and what they are, and connect potential volunteers with opportunities with local organisations.
