Github sponsors / stripe setup

Hey,

I'm trying to follow the docs at https://docs.opencollective.com/help/collectives/github-sponsors to setup our integration on Github with open collective. The docs however only reference the US entity. Is it possible to also setup this integration with the European Fiscal Host?

Thanks!

The Github Sponsors integration is only available for those fiscally hosted by Open Source Collective for now. If OC EU wants to talk to Github about getting set up, I can introduce them to our Github contact, but it's not likely to happen for some time due to Github's roadmap. However, you are welcome to start a parallel Collective with OSC to enable the Github Sponsors integration if you wish.

Oh alright, it'd be cool, if we could include that on the docs page linked above, so its clear that the integration only works with the US version.

It says right at the top of the page you linked:
This option is currently only available for Collectives fiscally hosted by the Open Source Collective

So I would also be interested in this topic. As far as I am concerned, if we provide all information to the Stripe Connect Account we should be able to make this happen via the "Fiscal Host - Other" option. I have choosen this collective because you don't have that funny paragraph in the terms where you sign over all of your "Intelectual property" to the OSC. Thus I would adore if we could make it possible to setup Github Sponsors via this collective!

OSC's terms say no such thing, and in fact state the exact opposite :

As between the parties, Collective shall retain all right, title, and interest in any intellectual property of the Project, including any copyrights, trademarks, trade names, artwork, designs, logos, copy, and all other intellectual property.

I'm in the same boat as @Enno Gotthold. Our project lead would prefer to use OC Europe, but also link Github sponsors.

So is it possible to add OC Europe's bank details for Github Sponsors? Should work, since most EU countries are supported by now?

I will reach out the OCEU admin and to GitHub to see if they want to set it up. Manuel is correct that people could sign up and put in OCEU's bank details, but without GitHub accepting OCEU as a fiscal host, what will be missing is the data export showing what money is for what Collective. Otherwise it will just be random transactions turning up in the bank and it's hard for the host to track.

Update on this:
Github came back to Alanna and said they would like to set up OCEU for Sponsors, but they need a few weeks to do some prep on their end.

Since we're down a few weeks, I'm wondering if  you folks have heard back from GitHub? 😇

Hi @keunes,

I just reached out to GitHub regarding this matter. We are on a the right track to make this happen, but this will take some more time as GitHub needs to work on various issues before onboarding OCE.

I will of course let you know how the situation evolves in the coming weeks but this will require some more patience.

Any update on this or way to push Github into action? Looks like there is a major issue with payouts over at Bountysource and people are keen for an alternative.

Hello Manuel,

Actually, we just got an approval for GitHub sponsor last week and will be able to integrate very soon. I'll get back to you shortly.

Hi Manuel,

I am keen to give our integration of GitHub Sponsor a first try. Could you please reach out to me on the Open Collective Slack to follow up on this? @JF

Thanks
