About

The Endurance Scholarship was founded in 2020 by Jenn Ortega and Sierra Jackson, two women of color from Chicago. The two graduated from Middlebury College in 2018, and understood firsthand the financial challenges that could come from pursuing an education. They created The Endurance Scholarship at the height of the global pandemic and racial uprisings to provide financial support to students of color from the Chicagoland area who may be experiencing social barriers as they pursue their education in spite of social circumstances.  It is The Endurance Scholarship’s hope to alleviate further stresses caused by financial hardships.

As of today, The Endurance Scholarship has awarded over $7K to 10 Chicagoland students of color across two Cycles and has expanded to award Chicagoland private elementary school students of color in addition to those in higher education.

Many people are unable to pursue their educational dreams because they cannot cover college deposit expenses, books, vocation certification fees and more. Furthermore, some people are unable to even access a higher education without a stable elementary one. While we are not able to cover full tuition expenses at this time, we hope our awards do provide some relief for students as they continue pushing towards their aspirations.
